Cosplay Competition
WHEN: Saturday + Sunday
WHERE: Main Stage

The much beloved Cosplay Competition returns for another year at SMASH!, and pre-registration for the competition is now available!

Spots in the competition are on a first-come first-served basis, so be sure to sign up early to secure your entry. Entry in the competition will be by ONLINE pre-registration ONLY this year, pre-registration can be found here: [link] Before entering be sure to read the Cosplay Competition Rules and Guideline.

Any questions regarding the Cosplay Competition should be emailed to the Cosplay Coordinator at cosplay@smash.org.au

Cosplay pre-registration closes on AUGUST 1st.
Once pre-registered you will be required to check-in before 12pm in the cosplay room to confirm your entry.


Cosplay Chess
WHEN: Saturday 11am
WHERE: Cosplay Room

Cosplay Chess is back and better than ever as it returns for its third year at SMASH!

Ever wanted to see Edward Elric battle Uzumaki Naruto? Here’s your chance! Cosplay Chess is a fun game where two teams battle each other on a human-sized chess board, with cosplayers taking on the role as the chess pieces. The game promises hilarious consequences as your favourite characters face off on the chess board.

Cosplay Snap Photography
WHEN: 10-6pm Saturday + Sunday
WHERE: Cosplay Room

Cosplay Snap returns for its second year at SMASH!

Cosplay Snap takes professional photographs of cosplayers and has been running for four years in Brisbane. With photoshoot package deals at low prices this is something cosplayers will not want to miss.

Cosplay Panels

Cosplay – From Conception to Completion
WHEN: Saturday 12pm
WHERE: Cosplay Room
Cosplay is now a popular sub-culture for Australia, with many young anime fans taking part. Our award-winning cosplay guests, K and Aly, will take you step-by-step through the cosplay making process.

“Advanced Techniques – Accessorising Your Cosplay” and “Beyond Costumes – Armour and Weaponry”
WHEN: Sunday 11am
WHERE: Cosplay Room
A two-part panel on moving beyond a simple costume and complementing your cosplay. Join K, Aly and Zerebin in an in-depth panel to improve your cosplay, from wigs, photoshoots and makeup, to moving beyond fabric into cosplay props and armour construction.
